Quetta Serena Hotel

Quetta Serena Hotel

Nestled between the awesome Chiltan and Koh-i-Murdar mountains, Quetta makes a dramatic sight. The provincial capital of Balochistan lies 1,692 meters above sea level. This legendary region with its rugged mountains, parched earth, terraced valleys and extremes of temperature, has developed distinct, identifiable and readable patterns of architecture. The curving, rambling mud wall is the basic and omnipresent building element - it defines the streets, the fields, the orchards, the courtyards and the "abode".

Located in the city center and spread over six acres, Quetta Serena Hotel is prominently located on Shahrah-e-Zarghoon in the Cantonment area. The hotel is conveniently accessible from all parts of the country and is linked by air, rail, and road network.

Quetta Serena Hotel has a distinctive identity - a character of its own. It has incorporated many stunning architectural and decorative elements of the local Baloch people - famed for their chivalry and martial prowess. Traditional arts and crafts, decorative patterns and other graphic designs found throughout the plush interior of the hotel are an affirmation of pride in the local culture and aesthetic traditions.

With stunning mountain views on all sides, the hotel is set amid flower-filed courtyards with fountains and water channels around the fruit orchards. It provides guests with first-class amenities and a world of luxury where the service is warm and gracious. From the doormen to the reception, to the Room Service and everything in between, it promises to make each ones stay a memorable one.

Getting to Quetta

Quetta is connected by air to and from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar. The Airport is located just seven miles from the Serena Hotel. Three major highways run through Quetta. The Karachi-Khuzdar-Quetta Highway, the Quetta-Chamman Highway and the Quetta-D.I.Khan Highway. All highways run through tribal areas. The train ride from Karachi to Quetta is very interesting as it goes through the legendary Bolan Pass. Within and around the city yellow cabs, cars, rickshaws and buses can be hired.

Serena Hotel Swat

Swat

Swat, the land of unique and unparalleled beauty and historic richness, lies in the north of North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan. It is bordered on the north by Chitral and Gilgit, on the North-West by Dir, on the South by Bunner, on the East by Hazara and on the West by Malakand. Apart from its historical and archaeological interests, Swat can in many ways be linked to Switzerland - a land of rivulets, forests, snow-capped mountains, luscious green fertile valleys and its temperate climate.

Swat is also noted for its exquisite embroidery of unerring geometric patterns of various colors, folk jewellery and hand embroidered Swat caps. Swat honey is one of the best varieties of honey in the world and is drawn from natural flora of the Hindukush ranges which are very rich in mineral wealth. It is also the home of ancient Buddhism and a major center of Gandhara civilization.

Local Area

Swat has been inhabited for over two thousand years. The first inhabitants were settled in well planned towns. In 327 BC, Alexander the great fought his way to Udigram and Barikot. In Greek accounts these Towns have been identified as Ora and Bazira. Around the 2nd century BC the area was occupied by the Buddhists. In the beginning of 11th century AD, Mahmood of Ghazni invaded Swat and defeated the local ruler, Raja Gira. In 1926 the British acknowledged Swat as a separate State and Miangul Abdul Wadud as the Wali( ruler ). In 1969 Swat was fully absorbed into Pakistan as Swat District.

Swat is one of the most beautiful valleys lying in the monsoon belt and is more fertile than the valleys further north. In lower Swat the valley is wide and the fields on either side of the River are full of wheat. In upper Swat the narrow River tumbles through pine forests hemmed in by snow-capped mountains.
